POLISH-SLOVAKIAN PROJECT: LET'S GET TO KNOW OUR ROOTSIt was a great pleasure to host at the Hostel participants of the EU funded Polish-Slovakian project "Let's get to know our roots". Youngsters from Poland and Slovakia took part in music workshops which culminated in concerts. The first concert took place in Bielsko-Biała, Poland, 7 July, while the second in Namestova, Slovakia, 14 July. HOSTEL KOSS AND THE SUMMER OF ARTS AT THE KOSSAKS' GAIN THE RIGHT TO USE THE PROMOTIONAL SIGN “BESKID PRODUCT FOR 5”11th December 2009 in Hostel Koss certificates were presented to about 50 organisations, firms, traditional food producers and handicraft workers of the Beskid 5 – the region comprising of the 5 municipalities Brenna, Istebna, Szczyrk, Ustroń and Wisła.  THE NATIONAL BANK OF POLAND ISSUES 2 PLN AND 20 PLN COINS COMMEMORATING “POLES WHO SAVED JEWS” – AMONGST THEM ZOFIA KOSSAKThe promotion of the coins took place on the 2nd December 2009 in the Belvedere Palace in Warsaw. Zofia Kossak's daughter, Anna Bugnon Rosset, was presented with a set by the President of The National Bank of Poland, Sławomir Skrzypek. FLY TIERS IN OUR HOSTELFrom 8-10 February 2008 a group of unusual artists stayed with us. Their works are surprisingly lifelike imitations of all kinds of insects and other creepy crawlies “twisted” out of odd materials, all to fool unsuspecting fish.  FIRST TEST OF PIANOTo increase the facilities of the Hostel a piano was acquired for the “Icehouse” dinning room.  NEW YEARS EVE 2007The New Year was seen in with fireworks and the release of helium-filled balloons by the guests. Many of the helium balloons carried a personal message or wish.  OFFICIAL OPENING OF HOSTEL KOSSHostel Koss was oficially opened on Saturday 16th June 2007. The Hostel’s Manager, Andrzej Burkot, warmly welcomed the many guests who had assembled in the late afternoon sunshine.  HISTORY OF THE PLACEHostel Koss was created in the former estate buildings of the Manor House which once belonged to Tadeusz and Anna Kossak. The sleeping accommodation is in the “Scouts' Stables”, while the “Manor's Icehouse” serves as a place to meet over a meal or at the fireside. |
